| CINDY CONKLIN renders familiar subject matter in minute detail in her meticulous scratchboard engravings. Her watercolors demonstrate a looser approach to both subject and materials. In her current series of watercolors, which are based on the Hula Kahiko, she uses a variety of watercolor techniques on handmade paper to weave together human figures, petroglyphs, and botanical and geometric elements. Her work can be seen in galleries statewide and in juried shows. Conklin's work is in the collection of the State of Hawai'i as well as in various corporate and private collections worldwide. Crazy Shirts, Maui Ocean Center, Ipukula Images, and Island Heritage publish her images ona variety of products. |
