Susie has been described as a “Pacific Colorist” with her own distinctive impressionistic style.  A devoted oil painter, passionate about painting outdoors “en plein air”, she is a juried member of Oil Painters of America and a Signature Member of the Plein Air Painters of Hawaii.  Her paintings are found in the permanent collections of the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, and the City and County of Honolulu, as well as many other corporate and private collections worldwide. She has won six Best-of-Show awards for her work in juried shows. 

Susie has lived in Hawaii since 1969 and is a graduate of USC, holding degrees in fine arts and medical illustration. She worked for the University of Hawaii School of Medicine as a medical illustrator for 14 years before forming her own litigation graphics company, Visually Speaking Inc.  She has been painting full-time and has been a member of the Gallery at Ward Centre since 2001. Look for Susie and her easel, especially at sunup and sundown, capturing the light “en plein air” at inspiring locations around the islands and elsewhere.
