Gregory Pai, PSA

Pastel

Gregory finds his greatest inspiration in the simple beauty of the natural landscape.  Originally trained as an architect, he received his training in drawing and painting at the Honolulu Academy of Arts under Anthony Lee, George Woollard, Chuck Davis, Helen Iaea and Mark Norseth.    He has also studied with nationally known artists.  Gregory is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America and the Pastel Artists of Hawaii.  His recent work has been received national recognition and awards in prestigious juries competitions.  Influenced by landscape artists: Corot, Church, Moran, Bierstadt, Metcalf and Payne and by contemporary artists Mowry, Telfair and Aspevig, Gregory charts his own course through the Hawaiian landscape.  He formerly worked as chief economist for First Hawaiian Bank and as a member of the Waihee and Cayetano administrations.
