Cindy Conklin

Watercolor Painting, Mixed Media, Scratchboard

Pulling inspiration from landscapes, the Hawaiian culture and plants, Cindy’s work spans many media including: scratchboard, watercolor, printmaking and mixed media.       Hawaiian subjects are rendered in minute detail in scratchboard engravings. Her watercolors demonstrate a looser approach to both subject and materials. Based on the Hula Kahiko, petroglyphs and graphic patterns, she uses a variety of watercolor techniques on handmade paper in contemporary figurative compositions. A related series of watercolors does away with subject matter, completely focusing solely on color and pattern. A new series of mixed media works expands her range with saturated contemporary abstracts. Her work is sought after by designers for use in commercial projects and hotel renovations. Works are also in private, corporate and public collections.
